{Houston, TX — December 5, 2017, a man was killed after an accident where a rifle discharged and shot him in the parking lot.

Authorities from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department were called out to the range at around 9:15 a.m. The Hot Well Shooting Range is located at 24815 US-290.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a rifle was being worker on inside the building on the property. That gun reportedly discharged accidentally, and the bullet penetrated the wall of the building. It then struck a man who had just gotten out of his car in the parking lot.

The victim was airlifted to a local hospital, and reports say he died shortly afterward. No one else was injured.

Investigators did not specify if a customer or an employee was working on the firearm. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.}

It appears that the Employee was cleaning a rifle that he didn't properly verify to be unloaded. The exact cause of the discharge is unknown. Yet, this is a clear case of Negligent Homicide. We'll have to see if he gets charged. There may be some exonerating Circumstance that I'm not yet aware of.
